Criteria For Choosing a Directory

The criteria's on which i generally choose a directory site as a good one or bad one are:-

1> PR:- PR should be a decent one and the site should at least be catched.

2> Spider-friendly Links:- Should return there PR value and the link should also be direct one.

3> Easy Submission Procedure:- The submission procedure might not be complex enough.

4> Well Organised Categories:- The categories of that directory site should be well organised means does not contain too many or too less no. of categories. There should be a balance between the no. of categories.

5> Should Contain Good Links:- Generally the links in any category should be good enough, does not contain the links to bad neighbourhood sites.

6> Older One:- Will check the age of the directory from Whois and as we all know OLD IS GOLD so will try to give emphasize on the older sites.

7> Alexa Rank:- Not a big deal but in the case of submitting the site it is very much required. So for normal directory listing we will not emphasize on Alexa Rank but in case we are choosing the site for Submit Site type of option then we will surely give emphasize on this.

I am listing some of the good directory site here:

1> DMOZ :- The biggest free directory of the world, but takes a long long time to give listing.

2> Google Directory :- Google directory is the copy of dmoz.

3> Yahoo Directory :- Biggest directory of the world in case of visitors.
